Question: whats your fave hobbies ?

Hywel Vaughan answered on 16 Jun 2010:
I must admit that I am a bit of a sports person…
I really enjoy cycling whenever I can. I have both a road and a mountain bike so like to either go for long road cycles or cycle off the top of the mountain near where I come from in Wales. On top of that though, I also like to go climbing and love swimming whenever I get chance.
Apart from all that, I tend to just be an internet and TV person – there is nothing quite as nice as relaxing at the end of the week by putting on a good film!

I play saxophone in 2 bands and have gigs every other weekend. I also play golf, but not very well. I used to play cricket and rugby but don’t anymore – but enjoy watching those sports. Music is really my fave hobby

Rather distractingly, I keep rotating through hobbies. I did photography for a while, then 19th century science books (too expensive now that I have children), to Roman coins (I can’t believe there are so many still around!).

On a day to day basis I like reading novels and Terry Pratchett is my favourite author. I also love watching films – Johnny Depp is one of my favourite actors! I also use facebook to keep in contact with my family in Scotland, while I’m in Wales
I also play squash a couple of times a week – it really clears my mind!
I started keeping bees last summer and I’m really pleased that they survived this winter when it’s been so cold. I’ve got stung a couple of times, but I’ve had some lovely honey to make up for it!I like gardening and I’ve got two vegetable patches as well as lots of flowers. I don’t grow as much veg as I could since I like to leave my sprouting brocolli in the ground too long – the bees love the flowers and the caterpillars love to eat all the leaves! I have a greenhouse, and I like to grow my own tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers and melons – so far I’ve done well with tomatoes and cucumbers, so I’m hoping this year I’ll be lucky with peppers and melons!
I also make stained glass panels it’s a bit messy and I tend to get a lot of little cuts off the glass, but I’ve made some lovely panels.
Since I live in Wales and most of my family is in Scotland I like to give them home made presents to show that I’ve been thinking of them – stained glass panels and pots of honey seem to be well appreciated!

Playing the drums and piano (not at the same time of course), skiing, swimming, gardening, reading, watching films (whilst eating pizza preferably). I cycle most days but that’s to get to work rather than as a hobby but I do enjoy it.
