• Question: what do you think of the great red spot of jupiter?

      Not a particular expert here, but my recollection is that its a great bit storm that has been hanging around for good few hundred years. That’s what make planteary physics so interesting – such strange and unexpected things happen – I don’t know why it is so stable (I hope that someone does)!

      I think its amazing as it is thought to be a huge storm thats 3 times the size of Earth, It’s also been hanging around for something like 400 years. Why it’s been around so long is a mystery, but if you remember that Jupiter has no real land mass then the lack of land may be the reason the storm keeps on going. On Earth a similar storm would be a hurricane, but these “blow themselves out” when they move inland. On Jupiter that may not be able to happen so the storm keeps blowing
