• Question: what are your views onj huntingtons disease and when do you think a cure would be found?

      Good question. My views are that it is a debilitating neurodegenerative disorder which is, sadly, has an autosomal dominant inheritence. What that means is in this type of inheritance pattern, each child of an affected individual has a 50% risk of inheriting the mutant gene and therefore being affected with the disorder.

      There is a research group here in Cardiff who are focussed on this disorder and investigating not only the causes but possible therapies and cures. This though is some way off. However we know alot more about the disorder and its causes and there is hope that possible stem cell therapy may be useful
