Ok, you will need to take science at GCSE and you will need to get an A* at that. You’ll also need As at Maths and English and probably most other GCSEs too. I always advise students to take a good varied selection of GCSEs. When I interview students for Dental School I want to see someone who has a wide range of interests, so something like history or geography would be good and take subjects you enjoy!
Vet school is very competitive to get into so the better your GCSEs, the better your chances of an interview.
I didn’t come through the UK system, so I’m not sure of the choices – but the most important subjects are probably biology and chemistry. I love Physics and Maths, but the chemistry is probably more helpful.
Edit: Shows you what I know! Yes, I agree 100% with Alastair on this one.
Hi Phoebe,
I’m no expert on this (I would recommend speaking to your careers advisor for the best advice!) but I think that having maths, English and the three sciences will be especially useful. You can also have a look on the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons web site… this may provide you with some more help than I can give! http://www.rcvs.org.uk
